Looked just like the photo, did have a smell (maybe just the fabric?) but it seems to have gone away. The packaging was ripped and the rug had a dirty spot (maybe 3x3 inches) from being bare during shipping, but luckily it was folded inside out so it doesn't matter- the spot is on the back! Love it!
